ITaS lights, camera and action!
What started as a hobby for a Midlands State University (MSU) graduate with a BA in Film and Arts has become a full-time career.
Tinotenda Samson Majachani (22) is an upcoming film producer with style worth talking about.
a?I focus on television productions and have worked alongside the likes of Arthur Evans, Hip-Hop 263 and done some productions for Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC). What you have heard of is just a tip of the iceberg. More and bigger works are in the pipeline,a? said Majachani.
Heas a natural who needed the academic side of the trade to make him a complete filmmaker.
a?Iam a natural but I learnt my skills at college. For the creative side I owe it to guys such as Trevor Ncube (producer of Arthur Evanas Zambezi Magic show), Naboth Rizzla and Andy Cutta (Nama winner for video production),a? he said.
Majachani said he has become more involved in post-production work of late. He has also headed music video productions for some of the leading local artistes.
He doesnat come cheap.
a?I base my charges on the costs of equipment and camera work to be dealt with. I donat compromise on quality, the most basic gear I work with starts from $1 000 going upwards,a? he said.
The more money one pays,A the better the job.
a?The costs get higher especially when there are models to hire as well on top of the equipment and cameras to rent, thatas the only way to produce quality. I make my money from the directoras fee, which is usually half the cost of the job,a? he said.
