Fiofest on the cards

REGISTERED events management company, Tamba Events, are set to introduce the inaugural Fiofest on December 22, at Takashinga Cricket Club, in Highfield.

In an interview with H-Metro, events manager – Nigel Chinovhiringa – said it was high time they started honouring Highfield.

“Fiofest is an event to celebrate one of the oldest townships in Zimbabwe, Highfield.

“I come from Highfield and I feel our home is not celebrated enough.

“A lot of big names have come out of this beautiful home and it is about time we paid homage to it,” he said.

The festival is a first of its kind and is intended to be an annual event.

“This is the inaugural event for Fiofest.

“We plan to make it an annual event although that decision is up to the people.

“As I said earlier, this event is for Fio, by people of Fio so their response will determine the future of the event.”

Asked how they are set to celebrate the event, he said:

“We are going to celebrate it through music, sport and fashion.

“We cannot talk about Highfield and not talk about Zimbabwe football grounds, that is ‘mazigo’ to be particular.

“So, there is going to be an eight-team soccer and snooker tournament to celebrate all the talent that has come out of Highfield.”

The event organiser promised a line-up that will be vibrant for everyone, who is set to attend.

“The line-up is going to reflect Highfield and how welcoming it is to visitors.

“We are going to announce the full line-up very soon and it is full of top entertainers,” he told H-Metro.
