ZVISHAVANE – A man from Manduna Village under Chief Tshovani in Midlands Province allegedly killed his friend following a dispute over who should sit closest to the fireplace.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm the matter and urge community members, particularly those living with mentally challenged individuals, to ensure they take their medication or are placed in mental health institutions,” said Insp Mahoko.

According to police, Jemitias Manduna had a heated altercation with his roommate, Taruvinga Dhema (48), over seating arrangements around the fire. The dispute escalated, prompting Manduna to pick up a log and stones, which he allegedly used to brutally assault Dhema, striking him on the head and face.

Dhema collapsed and died at the scene from his injuries. The matter was reported to the police, resulting in Manduna’s arrest.
