Firm celebrates first anniversary with donation

A LOCAL company, Cake Fairy yesterday donated groceries to Thembiso Children’s Home in Bulawayo as a way of giving back to the community.

The company, donated mealie-meal, rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, beans, sugar, tea leaves, flour and baked cakes for the orphans. In an interview, company marketing executive Mr Kudakwashe Simango said it was a way of celebrating the company’s first anniversary. 

“On Thursday 1 August it was our first anniversary so we decided to come and celebrate our day here at the orphanage. We donated a few things as a way of giving back to the community because the Bulawayo community has done a lot for us as a newly established company. We thought it was high time we appreciated the love we get from the community.”

She said corporates needed to appreciate the problems faced by those living in the communities they are operating from. Thembiso Children’s Home mother-in-charge Mrs Nomagugu Otilia Dube said she appreciated the gesture to assist the orphanage.

“At the moment we have 33 children and we would like the Bulawayo community to continue help us in raising these children because if people think of them more often it gives them a sense of belonging.”
