Tongaat Hullet managing director Mr Sydney Mtsambiwa said the donation was part of his company’s on-going thrust to develop the Lowveld area under the Sustainable Rural Communities project. He said his company would help in the installation of two water tanks at the health institution.
“We want to ease water shortages at this institution by installing two water tanks and we will also paint the hospital structures as part of our efforts to improve the health delivery system in the Lowveld,” said Mr Mtsambiwa.
He challenged the hospital authorities to furnishhis company with a list of their immediate needs andrequirements.
Masvingo Governor and Resident Minister Titus Maluleke said the donation would greatly enhance the health delivery system in the Lowveld.Governor Maluleke said there was need to “re-grade” the health institution into a general hospital.
“We want to appeal to the health authorities through Government to ‘re-grade’ the hospital into a general hospital so that in terms of budgetary allocations Chiredzi District Hospital also gets a bigger share like what happens to other general hospitals,” he said.
