PUBLIC hospitals across all 10 provinces have received yet another major boost following the latest nationwide donation of critical medical supplies, equipment and consumables from Health and Child Care Ambassador, First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa.
This donation is part of the Health and Child Care Ambassador’s zeal to help strengthen public health institutions, already easing pressure on overstretched departments and improving service delivery nationwide.
The beneficiaries include Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, United Bulawayo Hospitals, Mpilo Central, Sally Mugabe Central, Chitungwiza Central and Victoria Falls Hospitals.

Provincial and general hospitals included Gweru, Masvingo, Chinhoyi, Victoria Chitepo, Gwanda, Marondera, Kwekwe and St Luke’s.
Among some of the items distributed are resuscitators with Neopuff, diathermy pencils, ICU patient circuits, colostomy bags, syringe pumps, digital thermometers, surgical scrubs, blankets, specimen jars and theatre supplies.

Also included are paediatric equipment, blood collection tubes, face masks, surgical gowns, Zimmer frames with wheels, walking sticks, knee support boots, vaginal specula, sanitiser, syringes, linen, patient transfer bags and other essential materials.
The donation, handed over last Friday, comes just weeks after another donation of various life-saving items sourced through the First Lady’s Angel of Hope Foundation in partnership with international philanthropic organisations.

Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals official, Sister Fenny Chapman, said they greatly appreciate the Health and Child Care Ambassador’s continued support in assisting with equipment, medical supplies and consumables.
“These supplies are not just tools; they are a lifeline for patients in need. At times we used to struggle, but that is now a thing of the past,” she said.

A representative from United Bulawayo Hospitals, who expressed gratitude for the donations, said: “This will go a long way in ensuring patients have timely access to life-saving medicines.”

With more consignments expected soon, the First Lady’s vision remains clear: to ensure accessible, inclusive and high-quality healthcare for all Zimbabweans, particularly the most vulnerable.
Beyond donations, Dr Mnangagwa has championed mobile clinics, mental health campaigns, cancer awareness and maternal health support, while mobilising international partners and diaspora medical professionals to strengthen local capacity.
The Health Ambassador’s humanitarian work has earned her international recognition, including the donation of a fully equipped mobile hospital from Belarus last year, which continues to serve rural and under-served communities.
