FIRST SUSPECT IN CHIPAZ WHOLESALE ROBBERY NAMED

THE first suspect in the Chipaz Wholesale robbery has been named and appeared in court yesterday facing armed robbery charges.

Pride Hamandishe appeared before Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei who advised him to apply for bail in the High Court as he is facing a third schedule offence.

The court heard that on October 21, at around 9pm, Hamandishe and his accomplices went to Chipaz Wholesale at Specimen Shopping Centre in Glen Norah.

The gang was armed with two pistols and a machete.

They manhandled the complainant, Michael Chipano, who was about to close his wholesale and demanded cash.

Chipano surrendered the US$1958 accrued from daily sales.

Hamandishe and his accomplices went onto search Chipano and his workers and stole four cellphones
After staging the robbery and stealing the property the gang disabled two CCTV cameras and stole the DVR.

Hamandishe went to the shop on November 9 and was identified by Chipano leading to his arrest.
