A 24-YEAR-OLD man from Emganwini has been slapped with a US$400 fine after a terrifying early morning crash that left two of his passengers badly injured.
Servious Nkosiyazi Sibanda was convicted of negligent driving by Western Commonage magistrate Archie Wochiwunga after his Honda Fit veered off the road and overturned near Emganwini Secondary School.
The accident happened around 3.15AM on 26 April while Sibanda was driving along Nketa Drive with four passengers on board.
According to prosecutor Tafara Dzimbanhete, Sibanda lost control of the vehicle, causing it to swerve off the road and flip over.
“The vehicle overturned, and two passengers sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment,” said Dzimbanhete.
The court also endorsed Sibanda’s licence and handed him a two-year driving ban.
He will serve four months in jail if he fails to pay the fine.
