ANOTHER overloaded Honda Fit has turned into a death trap after two people were killed and 10 others injured in a horrific crash along the Nyanga–Rwenya Road.
Police confirmed that the fatal accident occurred on 21 August 2025 at around 5PM near the 48km peg. The Honda Fit, which was carrying 11 passengers instead of the recommended five, veered off the road before overturning and landing on its roof.
The violent crash left bodies scattered and passengers trapped in the mangled wreck. The deceased were ferried to Nyanga District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem while the injured were rushed to Regina Coeli Mission Hospital.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which two people died while 10 others were injured,” police said in a statement.
Villagers who rushed to the scene blamed the accident on the reckless culture of overloading small cars, with Honda Fits often crammed with passengers and luggage far beyond their limit.
The tragedy adds to the growing list of deadly Honda Fit accidents that have left a trail of blood on the country’s roads.
