SOUTHERN Region Five-A-Side League action enters round two on Saturday with four potentially explosive matches that will be played at the Grassroots Soccer Football for Hope Centre in Gwabalanda.
Defending champions, Bulawayo Artists who opened their campaign with a 4-1 triumph against Nust, meet Lee Mangena-led new boys Street Set.
This will be Street Set’s first game of the season after getting a bye in week one.
Last year’s league runners up, Amabhubesi who staged a dramatic comeback to force a 6-6 draw against Fox last weekend, have a tricky tie against fellow seasoned campaigners Flying Stars.
Following their three-all draw against Cash Money, league debutants Kilmarnorc will go into battle against bruised Nust.
Cash Money will square it off against Fox.
League chairman Philani Banda said it was pleasing to see their affiliates produce top drawer performances in the early stages of the league marathon.
“It was a great start and I must say it was very pleasing to see the clubs play some attractive football in the opening games. This suggests there was great preparation by the respective clubs and there is so much enthusiasm to do well this season. With such displays, we are set for a competitive and exciting season,” said Banda.
The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.
