A DANGAMVURA woman has been granted a five-year protection order after accusing her ex-husband of harassing, threatening and committing domestic violence at her new matrimonial home.
Mariah Mufi appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Sarah Kanyenze at the civil court, where she said her former hubby, Itai Chisi, had allegedly subjected her to abusive incidents since their separation in 2024.
Mufi said the harassment continued despite her moving on and establishing a new home.
She said her ex-husband allegedly damaged property, including window panes, and repeatedly banged doors, while disturbing her peace.
She also accused him of sending obscene and insulting text messages.
“He abuses me, bang the doors, insults me in front of my children and even threatens to kill me through text messages,” said Mufi.
Mufi further alleged that her ex-husband had physically assaulted her current husband, adding that his conduct was causing tension in her new marriage.
“He even assaulted my current husband, and this has caused a lot of tension between me and the victim. His actions are affecting my new marriage and disturbing peace in my new home.
“We have two children together, and he tries to reconcile with me. I do not want that. I have already moved on with my life, Your Worship,” she said.
Mufi said Chisi had been using their previous relationship and children to try to reconcile despite her refusal.
The allegations were not contested as the respondent was in default.
Ms Kanyenze subsequently ruled in favour of Mufi, and granted a protection order lasting five years.
Under the order, Chisi is prohibited from engaging in any form of violence against Mufi. He was also barred from going to her house for the purposes of causing violence or engaging in hostile conduct.
