ZIFA Southern Region Division One side Indlovu Iyanyathela yesterday received a shot in the arm ahead of the 2016 season when a macro finance institution donated two sets of kit to the army side.
FMC Finance donated full sets of home and away kit, with regional manager Clever Chidarikire also revealing that his company was in the process of drafting a new five-year sponsorship deal for the army outfit.
“It is our hope that this donation will go a long way in strengthening our relationship. Next year we are looking at even donating boots and soccer balls,” said Chidarikire during a brief handover ceremony held at Headquarters 1 Brigade.
The deputy commander of 1 Infantry Brigade Colonel Solomon Siziba said the gesture came at a time they were wondering where they would get a new kit for their football outfit.
“This gesture comes at a time of need when Indlovu Iyanyathela is preparing for the start of the 2016 season. We were wondering what we were going to do this year, but that has since been addressed with this donation,” said Siziba.
Siziba invited their new sponsors to watch the team’s opening match of the season, while also encouraging the team to reciprocate the FMC Finance goodwill by producing positive results on the field of play.
Indlovu Iyanyathela will this year be coached by Arnold Mawere, who takes over from former Highlanders’ skipper and assistant coach Bekithemba Ndlovu, who has since joined PSL side How Mine as assistant to Kelvin Kaindu.
The Southern Region Division One season kicks off on April 9.
