Speaking at the event, SAZ director-general Mrs Eve Gadzikwa said the FML certification reflected the company’s good quality products and services.
“Certification such as what First Mutual Life has achieved is an assurance of good quality, a means of demonstrating a business’ ability to consistently supply quality services.
“ISO 9001 certification is now firmly established as the globally accepted standard for providing assurance about the quality of goods and services in supplier-customer relations.
“We are delighted that First Mutual Life has joined the club and is one of the 95 companies in Zimbabwe, Malawi and South Africa certified to ISO 9001:2008 by SAZ,” she said.
First Mutual Life managing director Ms Ruth Ncube said the certification was testimony to the firm’s longstanding commitment to quality.
“The road to attaining ISO 9001: 2008 was a long one, but an exciting challenge for the organisation, involving all levels from the least to the most senior staff
“We kicked off this journey with a systems development training which ran from June 23-25 2010, the objectives being to equip participants with knowledge and skills for developing and implementing effective a quality management system in the organisation,” she said.
FML, which offers products such as employee benefits, individual benefits and the First Mutual Medical Savings Fund, relentlessly worked towards attaining this qualification.
An ISO committee comprising representatives from all divisions was set up to work on the project.
