INFORMATION, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Soda Zhemu has officially commissioned Ndau FM community radio station in Chipinge.
The radio station is located at Garahwa business centre in Chipinge District’s Ward 28.
The commissioning was attended by ICT Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuti and Information Ministry permanent secretary Nick Mangwana among other stakeholders.
The official opening marks part of a broader initiative to expand access to information, strengthen disaster preparedness, improve communication infrastructure and drive development in Manicaland Province.
There are six radio station in the province namely Ndau FM, FM Tongogara, Nyangani FM, Chimanimani FM and Vemuganga FM complementing the province’s flagship commercial broadcaster, Diamond FM, operated by Zimpapers.
This expansion reflects the Second Republic’s commitment, under President Mnangagwa, to devolving information and fostering inclusive national development.
Ndau FM has been playing a vital role in delivering early warning systems and advancing disaster risk reduction strategies particularly in light of natural disasters such as Cyclone Idai, which devastated Manicaland in March 2019.
