A GROUP of entrepreneurs from Eastgate Market formed a social football team, Eastgate FC, in September.
The team feels there is a lot for it to win besides football matches.
One of the entrepreneurs, Pride Karimatsenga, of Shotey Couture, who is the player/coach, said social football has deepened their ties.
“We have managed to work as a team, which has seen us have great results in return.
“Together, we are feeling strong and willing to walk the distance.
“We used to just see each other as colleagues, but now it’s more than that.
“We are brothers and now understand each other to a level of sharing our personal problems, without the fear of being judged.
“So, you will see that all these go a long way in helping people against depression and preventing suicidal thoughts.”
He added:
“In as much as we are playing social football, we have also enjoyed other benefits.
“Our level of physical fitness is no longer the same.
“We have improved a lot and we are loving it. “We have managed to network with other new people, which brings new opportunities and enables us to learn new things from others.
“Business-wise we have been benefitting as well as we have also managed to inform different people about our market.”
Eastgate FC are scheduled to play against MWOS FC on Saturday.
