Dr Obert Moses Mpofu
WE are all duty-bound to serve Zimbabwe.
Our sole purpose is to make this great nation prosper — and prosper we shall, for we have set our minds to it.
In our journey towards prosperity, we should focus on our desired end goal.
Let us not think for a second that we can achieve prosperity without unity and cohesion amongst our rank and file. The success we desire will only be attained if we all pull in one direction.
We are at a critical juncture in our history as a young democracy.
The future is ever so bright.
We are nearly there, for we have the right formula to achieve success.
Nothing else should matter at this point other than the success of our nation and our people’s prosperity.
We have made remarkable progress, and it is quite refreshing.
It is almost as if our country has been born anew since the advent of the New Dispensation.
Let all those who have eyes see what the ZANU PF Government, under His Excellency, President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa, has achieved. We should take a moment to appreciate all these milestones.
There is nothing that my party, ZANU PF, would not do for this beloved country.
We will go to great lengths to ensure that our nation prospers.
Stone upon stone, we are building Zimbabwe, just as our forebears did in shaping the Great Zimbabwe monument. Great effort was invested then, as now, to ensure that our civilisation thrives.
We have inherited their resilience, tenacity and focus to build a thriving nation under difficult circumstances.
We also inherited this land and nation from them.
So, we must thrive, leaving no one and no place behind.
But amidst all this progress, there are unwanted noises that seek to derail us.
Much has been said, and even more will be said, in efforts to divert our focus towards petty issues that do not benefit our nation.
Our preoccupation should be on building this great nation, and not dividing our people.
No one can dispute the fact that, as we endeavour towards our goal, unity will play an important role.
Our enemies are always prepared to frustrate all our progressive endeavours.
Disinformation and misinformation are still their preferred weapon.
There are malign and concerted attacks to spread all sorts of lies about our party, ZANU PF.
You see, some of us are in this business of politics because of the love for our country.
We loved our country so much that we made the bold decision to free it from the jaws of colonialism.
We love our people as God loved us, and we sought to free all of the children of Zimbabwe from colonialism, just as Moses freed the Israelites.
All we sought to do was to ensure that God’s children in the land called Zimbabwe are free to choose their path and prosper in their land.
We have made concerted efforts to ensure that this goal is attained.
Our nation will not suffer the same hardships we endured during the colonial era.
We will instead bask in a new reality of abundance and prosperity.
The level of prosperity that has been ushered in by the Second Republic, under His Excellency, President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa, is astounding.
Never in our wildest dreams did we think that our nation would be where it is today.
Our progress and subsequent success have been achieved through the unity of purpose that exists within the party’s leadership, as well as our deep love for our beloved country.
ZANU PF will never abandon the people and their cause.
Our people are already prospering due to policies that have stimulated economic growth.
We are going to ensure that we build upon this success for even greater wins.
Dr Obert Moses Mpofu is an academic and the Secretary-General of ZANU PF. He writes in his own capacity.
