THE 16-year-old Kuwadzana teenager, who was raped and given into marriage in a deal that was meant to try and hide the crime, has given birth to twin girls.

The deal collapsed when her parents confronted the man who had impregnated her, Kudzai Masakadze, 36, after it  emerged that he was grossly abusing her.

Well-wishers yesterday showered her with presents during the visiting hour at Sally Mugabe Maternity Hospital.

Among the donors were representatives from the Little Mr and Miss Africa Zimbabwe.

They were led by their director, Shalom Ramunyenyiwa.

The student was overwhelmed with joy as she received an assortment of baby wear and sanitary pads.

Shalom urged parents and the community to continue protecting children.

“We are here to give hope to the lady.

“We encourage the community to continue protecting our children, supporting them, and giving them hope.”

Masakadze, the man who is being accused of impregnating the Form 4 student before taking her as his wife and later dumping her, was arrested this week.

Masakadze confirmed to H-Metro that he impregnated the student before he negotiated with her parents to pay part of her Ordinary Level Examination fees.

He later dumped her after the student’s parents confronted him over allegations that he was physically abusing their daughter.

His arrest was confirmed by Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, on Tuesday.

“Police arrested a Mbare man for rape.

“His victim, a Form 4 student, is pregnant,” said Insp Chakanza.

Masakadze has since appeared in court and remanded in custody where he is facing rape charges.
