TAKING advantage of the recently registered Bosso club trademarks, former Highlanders players are set to financially benefit from selling club regalia.
Four former players that include Blessing Gumiso, Dazzy Kapenya, Thabani Masawi and Sauso Phiri have been cleared by the club to sell products bearing Highlanders trademarks.
Kapenya, a former Highlanders player, hailed the club for the clearance of people to sell club regalia.
a?It is a good thing to protect and promote the brand. The Highlanders community will grow financially as this initiative helps us and the club,a? he said.
He added that selling club regalia made them part of the team as they still got to interact with fans which was an amazing experience.
Highlandersa chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede said they were happy that their move was welcomed by stakeholders.
a?We have received a good acknowledgment with regards to clearing people in selling or using our trademarks. Thatas why even former Bosso players have formed a consortium to continue selling,a? he said.
The 90-year-old club has also roped in vendors who will be selling the clubas sportswear for a certain percentage of their profits.
a?Our marketing committee advised us to come to terms with deducting a certain percentage from profits that vendors make after deducting the production cost as we cannot tell how many products these people will be producing as some of them are as far as Chegutu,a? said Gumede.
