The football fraternity was yesterday plunged into mourning following the death of former Black Rhinos Queens and Mighty Warriors forward, Rufaro ‘Mafidi’ Machingura.

Machingura passed away after a long illness.

She was a sensation and darling to many football fans that got the opportunity to watch her in action.

She was part of the Mighty Warriors at her peak between 2011 and 2014, and her towering headed goal against South Africa in 2011 remains a talk point to date.

The Football Union of Zimbabwe mourned Machingura’s passing.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends, and football community. May her soul find peace.”

Mourners are gathered at 4617 Retreat, Waterfalls, Harare.
