FORMER Marlborough Primary School High School headmistress, Chipo Ndoziya, who was being accused of concealing from a principal, a personal interest in a transaction, has been cleared of the allegations she was facing.

Ndoziya, together with her accomplices —Abraham Mudzimu, who is the deputy headmaster, Patricia Gumbo, the-teacher-in-charge, and Rufaro Dhave, the senior teacher, were found not guilty after a full trial by Harare regional magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka.

The State had claimed that the quartet connived to steal from the school through a company which they had formed.

They opened an account with CBZ Bank.

The court heard that after registering their company, they started selling school uniforms to parents using the company.

The State claimed the proceeds were not accounted for through the school account since it was their own personal project.

The State had also claimed that the quartet knew very well that they had not sought authority from their principal, which is the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, in accordance with Statutory Instrument 1 of 2000 first schedule (Section 2) 15 and 18.  The Zimbrough receipts were produced in court as evidence.

The State had claimed that the quartet ensured a constant supply of school uniforms to the school even though they had not declared their interests, and would facilitate prompt payments from parents.

However, the court, in its findings ,ruled that the quartet didn’t break any law in their actions and everything was done above board.
