adminpupils amounting to US$2 995 appeared in court facing fraud charges.
Tamisayi Mugobogobo (48) of Zengeza 3 in Chitungwiza pleaded not guilty to fraud charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza resident magistrate Ms Olivia Mariga.
He was remanded out of custody to December 12 for continuation of trial.
Prosecutor Mr Luke Mutupe alleges that Mugobogobo during his tenure as a headmaster with Antony Muchato as the deputy head converted the examination fees to their own use.
Mr Mutupe told the court that in 2009, Mugobogobo received money from eligible ordinary and advanced level pupils sitting for the year’s exams in November.
He was supposed to issue each student with a receipt as proof of payment for every transaction made.
This was executed in the school’s receipt books.
He was also expected to deposit the cash into Zimsec’s account at Standard Chartered Bank without delay.
After depositing the money Mugobogobo was expected to issue receipts indicating names of students who had paid for the exam.
Instead of depositing the US$4 195 he received, he deposited US$1 200 with Standard Chartered Bank, Avondale branch.
After an inquiry by the School Development Committee it was established that the headmaster had converted US$2 995 into his own use.
