Fort Rixon teenager assaults, stabs rival thrice on the leg

AN 18-year-old man from Fort Rixon in Insiza District has appeared in court for allegedly hitting a complainant once on the head, and stabbing him thrice on the leg, following a misunderstanding.

Brighton Nyoni of Plot 17 Msudu area appeared before the Bulawayo regional magistrate, Mr Shingai Mutiro, charged with attempted murder.

He was remanded to June 29 for continuation of trial.

Prosecuting, Mr Jethro Mada said: “On May 19 at around 8am, Nyoni and Farai Sithole had a misunderstanding while charging their phones.

“Due to the misunderstanding, the accused started off by assaulting the complainant once on the left side of the head with a fist, pulled an okapi knife from his pocket and stabbed the complainant three times on the left leg and once on the back of the head,” said Mr Mada.

A police report was made leading to the arrest of accused person, and an okapi knife was recovered.

The complainant was referred to hospital for medical attention, added Mr Mada.
