FOSSIL Contracting last Friday made a significant contribution to enhancing law enforcement capabilities in Rusape District by donating vital Information and Communications Technology (ICT) equipment to multiple police stations.
Recipients of the ICT tools include the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Rusape, CID Buhera, CID Nyanga, Rusape Central Police Station, and Nyazura Police Station.
The donation package consists of six Lenovo laptops, two HP desktop computers, two generators (5.5 KVA each), two printers, four toner cartridges, and five boxes of bond paper, which is expected to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of police operations across the district.
Officer Commanding Manicaland Police, Commissioner Elizabeth Phiri said as technology becomes integral to policing, the donated resources, will substantially enhance the capacity of police stations across Rusape District to combat crime.
She described the equipment as essential tools that facilitate the fulfillment of the police’s constitutional mandate to maintain law and order.
“This gesture by Fossil Contracting exemplifies a strategic partnership between the private sector and law enforcement, promoting a safer, more technologically empowered Zimbabwe. In time when technology plays an integral role to our day-to-day operations, these resources will significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our stations in combating crime in our district and nation at large. Also these items will elevate the operational capabilities of us ultimately leading to improved service delivery to the community. These donations are not merely items, but highly significant tools that will aid our police officers in their mission as enshrined in the Constitution of Zimbabwe,” she said.
Commissioner Phiri said the gesture by Fossil Contracting will enable the police to fulfill National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) objective Number 7 – to modernise the economy through the use of ICT and digital technology.
“As we move forward let us remember that these contributions reflect a collective responsibility. It is our duty to utilise these tools wisely and effectively. I urge each member of CID Rusape/Nyanga and ZRP Nyazura may this support propel your work to greater heights and reinforce your pursuit of justice, integrity and professionalism,” she said, urging other businesses to support the force in its quest to maintain peace and security. Handing over the equipment, Fossils Contracting loss control officer, Mr Samson Napulu emphasized the company’s commitment to national security.
“We feel that as a business involved in civil construction, we can contribute to the safety and security of our nation by assisting the police so that they make the environment safer. The police require all the support they can get to effectively discharge their constitutional mandate. By collaborating with the private sector, the police can access essential resources, expertise, and funding, ultimately improving their ability to maintain law and order, protect citizens, and combat crime. This partnership is crucial in ensuring the police can fulfill their duties efficiently and effectively, promoting a safer and more secure environment for everyone,” said Mr Napulu.
