Four candidates vie for Chimanimani West post

ZANU-PF provincial co-ordination committee in Manicaland has shortlisted four candidates to contest in the Chimanimani West by-election.

The four candidates include Zanu-PF national secretary for administration (women’s league), Cde Letina Undenge, war veteran, Cde John Gwitira, Cde Tasen Dube and Cde Nokuthula Matsikenyere.

The four are vying for the Chimanimani West constituency left vacant following the firing of Engineer Munacho Mutezo from Zanu-PF.

Eng Mutezo was subsequently recalled from Parliament.

One candidate, Cde Adlove Mutama was disqualified by the provincial executive as he was said to have not served in a provincial executive portfolio.

Cde Mutama is a member of Zanu-PF Waterfalls (Harare) district executive member.

In a meeting held at Mutare Polytechnic today, the provincial co-ordination committee also vetted candidates of the Chimanimani Ward Eight councillor election.

The Ward Eight councillor, Mr Joe Zviuya was also fired from Zanu-PF for his alleged links to Zimbabwe People First together with Eng Mutezo.

Those vying for the seat include Cdes Otilia Chabuda, Muyapi Chinguno, Tapiwa Gwinya, Crispen Hlabati, Pfungwa Mabiika and Crossway Mugombi.

One candidate, Cde Oliver Gondo was disqualified.
