Four children die in inferno

Four children from Machaka Village in Buhera died this week when a thatched hut they were sleeping in caught fire, killing two of them instantly, while the other two died upon admission at Murambinda Hospital.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident in a statement.

“In a sad incident, four children died due to an inferno at Machaka Village, Chief Nerutanga, Buhera on March 12, 2021,” he said. “The victims and their mother were sleeping in a hut before discovering that their hut was on fire at about 9pm.

“Only the mother survived as two minors were burnt to death and the other two victims died upon admission at Murambinda Hospital.

Investigations are in progress.”
