FOUR-GOAL CLASSIC ILLUMINATES RUFARO

Bruce Chikuni

Herentals…………………………………………………….(0) 2

Highlanders………………………………………………….(2) 2

IF all the domestic league matches were as good as this classic then fans would have been flooding the local stadiums.

The fans were treated to a four-goal thriller as the two sides bagged a point apiece in a match which resembled a Cup final yesterday at Rufaro.

It was an end-to-end affair as both sides saw no reason to hold their fire.

Bosso scored their goals in the first half and the final lap belonged to the Students who scored twice in teh second half to pick a deserved point.

Both teams will be disappointed they didn’t win it at the end.

Bosso remain top of the table with 15 points, despite dropping their seventh point in the last three games.

The lively Brighton Ncube powered Bosso into the lead in the 18th minute with a beautiful finish.

Mvelo Khoza extended Bosso’s lead beating, the helpless Students’ ‘keeper, Takudzwa Chikosi, from a tight angle.

Chikosi then denied the lively Prince Ndlovu, 17, in a one-on-one situation.

It proved a costly miss as Herentals substitute, Tafadzwa Jim, handed the Students a lifeline with a fine header from a well-delivered corner kick.

Godfrey Mukambi restored parity with a solo run.

Bosso coach, Kelvin Kaindu, said:

“I don’t have much to say about this game but I’m quite pleased that our boys are scoring and we are creating more chances.

“Our defensive unit seems to be conceding many goals and it’s an area which we have to work on to avoid such results.”

His counterpart, Paul Benza, was pleased with how his charges forced a draw.

“It’s a good result for us considering where we are. Bosso are always favourites but what is more pleasing is the manner which the boys fought to get this important point.”
