France keen to invest in health sector

France has assured Zimbabwe of its continued support towards the country’s health system and strengthening HIV and Aids programmes.

Speaking after a meeting with French ambassador, Mr Laurent De Lahousse held in Harare last week, Health and Child Care Minister, Dr David Parirenyatwa said there were intense discussions on how France is keen to offer support to Zimbabwe.

“The meeting with the French ambassador was centred on France’s keenness to offer support to the country’s health sector and strengthening programmes to do with HIV and Aids,” said Dr Parirenyatwa.

“During our discussions, France showed keenness to continue supporting the Zimbabwe in the health sector,” he said.

France is the second largest contributor towards the Global Fund on Aids, TB and Malaria after the United States.

Mr De Lahousse is also a board member of the Global Fund on Aids, TB and Malaria.

The meeting was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Health and Child Care’s Aids and TB Unit and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
