Controversial comedian Frank Chirisa says he is a happy man after his two-day-show held at Bulawayo Theatre on 24 and 25 August managed to live to billing as it attracted way more revellers than expected.
Chirisa said he sold 403 tickets out of the initially 600 tickets which were printed for both shows.
Dubbed “Funny Stories That Heal,” the event saw Chirisa presenting a side splitting show that tackles everyday life ,relationships and current events.
His unique perspectives had the audience roaring with laughter.
Notable people who were part of the crowds are Hip Hop sensation Indigo Saint ,Rotary Assistant Governor Lorna, Rotary president of Matopo, Mthokozisi and shekinah.
Frank Chirisa’s parents were also in attendance to bless the event.
Chirisa said he was tasting waters with this idea of a one-man-show and the numbers in attendance made him believe that anything is possible in life as long as one has a dream.
“I wanted people to have a great experience and fall in love with comedy and for myself, I was very emotional, my dreams unfolded right in front of my eyes . I just went in there and God did the rest as I had been preparing for this show for 6 years.
“This show has been the best comedy show to ever happen in our city, not just compared to my previous shows but to other previous shows by other comedians,” said Chirisa.
His mother said she was happy to see her son succeed at a young age and she said she prays that God continues to guide and protect him in his endeavours.
“I am so proud of Frank ,he has always made me laugh since he was a kid but I didn’t think it was going to turn into a career. Seeing him bringing joy to so many people is truly heartwarming’’ she said.
Meanwhile, Chirisa said he has a list of upcoming events that promises to keep his fans entertained including a Book launch, Comedy special screening ,comedy special release, documentary screening and documentary release for the last week of September.
