Mashudu Mambo
A MISUNDERSTANDING over beer has landed a 23-year-old man from Tongwe village in Beitbridge on the dock after he allegedly stabbed a fellow passenger with a knife on the chest and hand.
Mashudu Ndou appeared before a Beitbridge magistrate facing a charge of attempted murder. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to 4 September for continuation of trial.
Allegations against Ndou are that on 11 August 2024, at around 10pm, he was with the victim together with three others on their way home from Mugaladiba on a scotch cart.
The victim was drinking beer and Ndou grabbed it and drank without his permission. An altercation ensued and while the two were having an argument, Ndou took out a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest and left hand.
The victim collapsed and was ferried to Beitbridge District Hospital where he received medical assistance. The matter was reported to the police leading to Ndou’s arrest.
