Freak accident invoving explosives claim two lives in Chikuti

TWO men died when the mining explosives they were transporting on a motorbike carrier detonated near Chehanga in Chikuti, Hurungwe District.

The circumstances surrounding the blast remain unclear, with authorities yet to establish what triggered the explosion.

According to local sources, the force of the detonation left the victims’ bodies badly mutilated, with the passenger’s body reportedly having been torn in half by the impact.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Mashonaland West spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera, said police were still gathering information and could not provide more details on the incident immediately.

The incident happened on Monday.
