Fresh charges for drug dealer

A SUSPECTED drug dealer was over the weekend hauled to court on fresh charges of illegally dealing in drugs.

He was allegedly found in possession of crystal methamphetamine worth $10 000.

Nathan Ziwini, 35, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate, Stanford Mambanje.

Ziwini was released on bail on similar charges recently.

Allegations are that on June 9 this year, at around 7am, information was received by the police to the effect that Ziwini was dealing in crystal methamphetamine at his home in Granary Harare.

The police acted on the information and went to Ziwini’s house and knocked on the door.

When he saw the police, he jumped over the precast wall and tried to flee.

The police chased after him and managed to apprehend him.

When a body search was done, he was found in possession of four sachets of crystal meth, in his left pocket.

Ziwini was subsequently arrested and was taken back to his house.

Further searches were conducted leading to the recovery of 11 sachets of dagga, from the drawer of a wooden cabinet, which was in the kitchen.

The seized drugs are valued at $10 160.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Tanatswa Chamisa of Seke also appeared before the same court to answer to charges of illegal possession of drugs.

The court heard that on June 8 this year, the police received a tip-off that Chamisa was dealing in drugs in Mutsvairo Village, in Dema, Seke.

The police went to his house and introduced themselves and searched him.

The police recovered 28 sachets of crystal meth from his underwear.

Several empty sachets were also seized from the right pocket of the track bottom he was wearing.

The recovered drugs have a street value of $28 000.
