THE Friends of the Warriors have hailed coach Michael Nees and his technical team for guiding the team to AFCON finals.

Nees, whose side drew 1-1 with Kenya to book a place at the 2025 AFCON finals in Morocco, has had an unbeaten start to his tenure as Warriors coach.

Friends of Warriors president, Todd Dzvangaguru, said Nees has what it takes to help the Warriors make history and go beyond the group stages after failing to do so in previous five attempts.

“We are happy with the progress as the Friends of the Warriors. We have been waiting for this opportunity and we are happy that the normalisation committee has put trust into Nees who is bringing back smiles on our faces.

“We are now looking forward to doing well in Morocco, not forgetting the game against Cameroon.
“There is nothing called a dead rubber in football so we need a good result in Cameroon as well.

“The result will go a long way in determining our world rankings, so we will not take anything for granted but do our best.

“We are still behind the boys and we hope they will make us proud once again,’ said Dzvangaguru.
Friends of Warriors chief of protocol, Tendai “T-Bunz” Zhakata, said:

“There is need to support the team and we are not looking back because we have already qualified but we need the fans’ support against Cameroon tomorrow.

“The team made us proud and I am happy that we traveled to Polokwane, did a great job of rallying behind the boys.

“While it might be a long shot for the fans to travel to Cameroon, we are urging everyone to continue rallying behind the boys even back here at home,” said Zhakata.

Absolom Malcom Vanisi, who is in charge of marketing, said they are happy with the support they got from the corporate world and everyone who was part of the supporters who travelled to South Africa.

“We cannot mention everyone who helped but special mention goes to Vincent Chawonza and Magura Tours T/A Fly With Eagles proprietor Trywell Magura who helped us with affordable transport,” added Vanisi.
