FROM burying the dead to digging himself into a financial grave — Kingdom Blue Funeral Services boss, Brilliant Ncube, is in hot water after his dramatic attempt to sell off a house to clear US$5 600 in maintenance arrears was flat-out rejected by the court!

The once high-flying CEO, known for his flashy lifestyle and “blue-blood” empire, is now singing the blues after magistrate, Sharon Gava, threw out his desperate bid to offload a US$65 000 stand.

It all started when his estranged wife, Sibonguthando Ncube, who is divorcing him for allegedly cheating with bonus benefits, as in a baby from another man, slapped him with a US$1 200 monthly spousal maintenance demand.

The court granted her wish in September last year and Brilliant’s financial sparkle began to fade.

Now neck-deep in arrears, Brilliant appeared in court begging to sell property to clear his debts. Through his lawyer, he gave a breakdown of his finances:
l Earns R40 000 monthly
l Pays R43 000 just for one child’s university fees
l Forks out R1 500 for transport
l Pays R7 500 rent
l Supports seven kids, including one he says isn’t even biologically his!

“But legally, I still have to support that child until 18,” he groaned.

His Hail Mary to flog the house didn’t fly. Sibonguthando’s lawyers shot it down, revealing the property was already locked in another court battle under Case 555/25.

Then came the courtroom KO — magistrate Gava ruled: “The application is not provided for in the Maintenance Act.

It is alien to maintenance. This court cannot substitute but can vary.”

In layman’s terms, the magistrate said: No house sale. Pay up in cash.

Now, the man who buries others for a living may soon find himself buried in debt, unless he coughs up the money.

Meanwhile, sources say Sibonguthando is holding her ground, demanding every cent no matter how Brilliant tries to spin it.

When love dies, even funeral bosses can’t bury the consequences.
