AT just 26, Bulawayo’s Michelle Lewis has turned her life around, rising from a humble background to become one of the city’s top property sales consultants.
Michelle, the youngest of six siblings, grew up in a home where money was always tight. Her parents struggled to find work, leaving her to take on the role of breadwinner from an early age.
“My parents only managed to pay for two years at Petra Primary. After that, there was no money for school fees, so I worked holiday jobs and eventually enrolled at Ark of Hope College, where I managed to sit for my Cambridge exams,” she said.
Determined to succeed, Michelle joined CHAS Everitt International Property Group as a receptionist at 20. Through hard work and dedication, she worked her way up to becoming a registered sales negotiator with the Estate Agents Council (EAC).
“This year alone, I have sold 29 properties. My dream is to become a principal real estate agent and eventually sell properties nationwide,” she told B-Metro.
Michelle’s passion for property and interior design has been her driving force.
“I love helping clients find their dream homes. It’s not just about sales, it’s about changing lives,” she said.
Her father, Peter Mark Lewis, praised her relentless work ethic.
“She has always been driven and competitive. Michelle would stay up until 3am studying. I thank the Lord for my wonderful daughter,” he said.
Michelle revealed that one of her biggest personal challenges was her father’s horrific car accident in 1987 after a rugby match between OG’s and ZISCO.
“It was a dark time for our family, but it also taught me resilience,” she said.
Now a role model for young women, Michelle offered words of encouragement to aspiring dreamers.
“To all young girls out there, the road to your dreams may not always be smooth, but every challenge is a stepping stone. Believe in yourself, trust your journey and know that you can achieve anything you set your heart and mind to,” she said.
With 29 property sales under her belt and a vision to grow even bigger, Michelle’s inspiring journey proves that with hard work and determination, no dream is too big.
