FROM UK, WITH LOVE

UK-BASED philanthropist, Danai Mavunga, has pledged £20 000 to help upgrade Chindotwe Primary School in Bindura where her father was a student.

Mavunga, who co-founded Afro Paradise and Peppah (Events, PR and Music Agency) in the UK, is in the process of crowdfunding for the refurbishment.

In an interview, Mavunga said she had a deep connection with the school and its surrounding areas.

“Unfortunately, with limited resources and an average of 50 children per class, these students face numerous challenges.

“The school currently has only 10 outdated laptops, they lack the basic necessities such as textbooks and pens and some students are struggling to keep up with their school fees.”

She said her passion moved her to advocate for better conditions for children at the school.

“I am appealing for donations no matter the contribution. Any amount can create a lasting impact on the lives of these children. Imagine only £20 covers for a child’s school fees for an entire term, £30 helps provide school supplies for the year, which include books, pens and laptops.

“The donations will also contribute to the renovations and improvement of the school’s facilities,” she said.

Mavunga seeks to give the school a facelift and improve learning conditions.

Chindotwe Primary School has an enrolment of 1 234 students, 33 teachers and 31 classes.
