The runaway killer couple, who skipped the border in 2023 after allegedly murdering a four-year-old niece, appeared in court over the weekend charged with murder.

The couple John Zviri and Alistar Sibanda was extradited from South Africa last week.

The court heard that in April 2023, Nomsa Sibanda who is young sister to Sibanda brought her children from South Africa.

Nomsa has agreed with her sister that she would take care of her children, the now deceased Princess Shoko who was four and her sister Susan Mandaza who was six.

Nomsa Sibanda went back to South Africa on May 19, 2023.

The couple allegedly started ill-treating the children, assaulting and denying them access to food.

The court heard that in July 3023, Princess Shoko passed away due to the injuries sustained from the severe assault.

The couple allegedly acted in connivance, placed the remains of the now deceased in a sack and stashed it in the boot of a red Honda Fit with Botswana number plates.

They drove from their homestead to Kuwadzana Extension and dumped the body in a stream in Dzivaresekwa.

The couple told Nomsa about the death of her daughter, and she came to Zimbabwe but was not given a satisfactory explanation about the death of her daughter.

She lodged a missing person report at ZRP Dzivaresekwa.

The couple then fled to South Africa fearing arrest.

On August 2, the body of the deceased was discovered in the stream and Nomsa Sibanda managed to identify the body as that of her daughter Princess Shoko.

A postmortem examination was carried the pathologist and cause of death was not concluded awaiting toxicology.
