FAO Motors on Saturday lost US$33 000 to armed robbers in Mt Pleasant.
Three security guards of Guard Alert were on duty when a group of seven men armed with Pistol and FN rifles approached the two guards, who were at the front of the workshop and ordered them to remain silent.
One of the robbers pointed a firearm at the guards, untied their shoelaces and used them to tie the two guards and told them to lie down.
They left one robber guarding the two guards whilst the other six proceeded to the main guardroom and took the other two guards and tied them again with shoe laces and ordered them to lie down on their stomachs.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.
“Police are investigating an armed robbery case in Mt Pleasant,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The accused persons broke the car parts company door using an unknown object to gain entry into the workshop and proceeded to the finance office.
“They blasted two safes and stole cash amounting to US$33 000 from one of the safes, the other safe had no cash and they went away,” he said.
