Gospel diva Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave will today launch a gospel choir at Montclair Hotel in Nyanga. The musician said she has realised that there was raw talent that needed to be nurtured among many potential singers in the country.

“There is a lot of unexposed talent out there and if us musicians fail to assist them then we are not taking the industry anywhere,” she said.

She said she will be assisting the choir in recording their album.

“They will record their own album and I will be assisting them. In the event that there are individuals within the choir who want to have their albums they will get assistance,” said Fungisai.

The “Makomborero” hit maker said the operation of the gospel choir will not affect her band.

“My band will be there and whenever we get booked as Fungisai and the choir we will also perform at such events,” she said.

She said the launch of the choir would be another good experience in Nyanga.

“The choir will bring a new dimension to our shows. They have been working on performances since we identified them. It will be a great show I can assure you that,” she said.

She said people should look forward to a prayerful show as they are celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“Away from the launch of the choir we have a number of things to celebrate during Easter,” she said.

Fungisai has a number of songs that has made her a household name.

Songs such as “Makomborero”, “Kwedu KuZimbabwe”, “Gore Rapera” and “Ndiye Jesu” among others have on several occasions thrilled her fans.

Organisers of the event said had decided to have a gospel artiste to celebrate Easter.

“That is another way of celebrating Easter and we are hopeful that she will be thrilling fans down here,” said the organisers.
