Buhle is not new to Zimbabwean fans after having collaborated with the once acclaimed Zimbabwean gospel music sensation Ivy Kombo-Kasi for the hit track “Handidzokere Shure” that rocked back in the day. Fungisai said they mooted the idea to collaborate after Buhle graced the Gospel Extravaganza in Bulawayo last month.
“I have no previous conflict with Fungisai but I just want to see how good I am by battling her and at the same time she can also see how good she is.
“This challenge will help us learn a few things from each other. I respect her but all I want to do is test myself
since she is one of the best. This should be as soon as possible when I get my things set,” she was quoted as saying.
“I would love to work with Buhle. She is such a good vocalist and I want her to back me in my upcoming album.
“I will be recording my songs in South Africa and it will be an honour to have her,’’ Fungisai said.
“I believe gospel music is not all about seizing each other or competing.
“To add is to strengthen and to subtract is to
weaken. We will surely learn a lot from each other,” she added.
Fungisai is still basking in glory after successfully launching her ninth album “Wenyasha Ndewenyasha” last year.
On the album, Fungisai shows her creativity by playing the mbira instrument in one of her songs “Kwedu”.
She is a qualified mbira player after enrolling at Zimbabwe College of Music.
To show her love for collaborations, Fungisai featured Blessing Shumba on the song “Ndinotendeuka Ndiregerewo”.
The pint-sized musician has captured the national consciousness since bursting onto the scene as a 19-year-old gospel novice under the wing of veteran singer Elias Musakwa.
On the other hand, Buhle is popularly known for the hit song “Ubani Othi Abazalwane Bayaborha” which she did with Snethemba and she was nominated for both the SAMA and Metro FM awards for the best gospel song awards.
Buhle has performed in most Sadc countries.
