adminThe gala commemorates the country’s Unity Accord which was signed on December 22, 1987, between President Mugabe and the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo or simply Father Zimbabwe.
This is the first time that the gala has been taken to Gokwe and folks in that area will have every reason to smile since they will have the chance to witness some of the country’s best artistes right in their backyard.
The line-up of performers alone is a clear testimony of the unity of purpose among Zimbabweans from all walks of life, comprising artistes drawn from different parts of the country including Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare and the Midlands Province itself, among others.
Topping the bill will be none other that the sungura maestro himself, Alick Macheso, who is riding high following the release of his latest album “Kwatakabva Mitunhu” (Kure Kwekure).
Cheso Power, as he is affectionately known by his fans, will use the gala to promote some tracks from the album and for some people, this will be their first time to listen to the tracks live on stage.
Sulumani Chimbetu, who like Macheso also has a new album to his name, will take people on a musical voyage and he has never disappointed at an event of this magnitude with some of his late father’s) songs, that talk about peace and unity.
Although he doesn’t have a new album yet, Peter “Young Igwe” Moyo knows how to serenade revellers with his fired-up performances, while Jah Prayzah needs no introduction with his high-octane acts.
Songs like “Ngwarira Kuparara”, “Sango”, “Maria” and “Chitenderano” among others are sure-fire hits that will set Gokwe Centre ablaze.
Some of the artistes to look forward to include talented gospel musician Blessing Shumba, Tryson Chimbetu, First Farai, Energy Mutodi, Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima, Cde Chinx, Chase Skuza, Somandla Ndebele, Mbare Chimurenga Choir, Roki, Sniper, Mic Inity, Shingisai Suluma, Agatha Murudzwa and Tina Watyoka, among others. The all-night event is scheduled to start at 5pm and admission is free.
