Peter Nyathi, Wiseman Sibanda, Bassamo Sibanda, Jackson Sibanda, Knowledge Nare and Mthombeni Moyo all of Umzingwane Farm in Beitbridge were not asked to plead to charges of contravening a section of the Criminal Law (Reform and Codification) Act (assault) when they appeared before Beitbridge magistrate Mrs Auxilia Chiumburu on Friday.
They were remanded out of custody to 4 September on their own cognisance.
The prosecutor, Mr Reason Mutimba, said on 30 May at around 3pm, the six men teamed up and drove to the complainant’s homestead in a neighbouring village.
On arrival they allegedly confronted the complainant accusing him of having bought game meat of an animal killed at Umzingwane Farm.
The complainant however, denied the allegations and that incensed the accused persons resulting in them assaulting the man using sticks.
The complainant sustained bruises all over his body.
The court heard that soon after assaulting him, the six men took the complainant to Tshamnangana Clinic where he was treated and discharged.
A report was made to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused persons.
