BULAWAYO was rocked by yet another terrifying gas explosion Monday night.
This time, a car turned into a flaming coffin of twisted metal near Amakhosi Cultural Centre!
The mystery driver had just refilled his gas cylinder in town and was cruising home when things went boom.
Sources say a leaking gas tank is to blame, and as the stench filled the car, the driver pulled over near the robot-controlled intersection by Old Falls Road. But the second he turned the key in the ignition, KABOOM! flames erupted like a scene from an action movie!
“It’s believed the gas tank wasn’t properly sealed. Static electricity likely ignited the leaking gas when he tried to start the car,” said Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer Mr Mhlangano Moyo.
This is not the first fireball scare in the city. Just weeks ago, a Honda Fit was blown to bits at Manyenziwe Shopping Centre in Nkulumane 12 after an illegally sold gas cylinder exploded.
How many more cars must burn before safety is taken seriously?
Stay safe, Bulawayo, check those cylinders, or risk being the next headline!
