SUNGURA musician, Romeo Gasa, says he is now targeting the international market.
Gasa is on cloud nine after one of his videos is making waves on Trace TV.
Speaking to H-Metro, Gasa also said that spreading the modern sungura genre is his main goal this year.
“This is my year of spreading modern sungura to the people and also going international.
“The Karolina video is now being played on Trace TV so I want to continue pushing the Simbi Hombe brand,” he said.
Gasa said last year he had difficulties trying to get his music to the people.
“Last year was a bit difficult because we were coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic so it was not easy to get back to our people, we failed to reach some places due to a very big backlog,” he said.
He added that although it was difficult to reach out to his fans, he was nominated at the ZIMA awards for Best Sungura Artist.
“Last year I was nominated for Best Sungura Artist at ZIMA awards, I also released an album called Phone Yababa Imhiripiri.
“I managed to release videos from my album for Karolina and Mukundi
“My video Karolina made it into the top 5 of Top 50 videos so it was a great year for me and entering radio charts and Top 50 was so great for me.
“My album launch gave me two residential stands.”
Gasa will be celebrating his 36th birthday today.
“I will be hosting a big show at Makuluwani Gardens at White House Shopping Centre but I have plans to do something for charity as I always do,” he said.
