Gate sets sights on Mozambique

now a free agent, yesterday said he had agreed a one-year deal with the Beira outfit who are preparing for the new season.
The Mocambola League runs concurrently with our Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and at the moment clubs are busy with their pre-season. 
“I was invited for trials at Ferroviario two weeks ago and I was there for over a week. I am happy that I managed to secure a one-year contract.
“The Mozambican league is just as competitive as ours and I am looking forward to the new challenge.
“I think it will be a good experience for me because my goal is to play in the national team again,” he said.
Gate, who made a big impression at Masvingo in the early days of his career, has not been involved in professional football after quitting Zimbabwe Saints during the mid-season window in 2011. He had moved from Highlanders at the beginning of the year but claims that he was forced to sever ties with Chikwata after they failed to honour their contractual obligations.
“I left Saints in July because they could not meet their side of the contract. We had agreed on certain figures for the signing-on fees and salaries but they were not forthcoming.
“So I played about 10 games and decided to terminate the contract to move on with my career.”
After breaking ranks with Saints, Gate said he tried a move to South Africa during the off-season but was not successful.
