SONGBIRD Gemma Griffiths is determined to put Zimbabwe on the world map using her music talent.
The Afro pop musician, who anticipates yet another successful year, said she will do her best to meet her goals.
“Uplifting our country, having pride in our home should be forefront because before we are anything else, we are Zimbabwean.
“In 2022 I toured Zimbabwe and saw new places, new faces, and got to share my music with you all in such an intimate and personal way,” she said.
Gemma said music conquers all and expressed her gratitude to sungura kingpin, Alick Macheso, for his guidance.
“Writing music was my first love, and it gives me such peace. I can both lose and find myself so easily in the process.
“2022 was a whirlwind of adventure, I prayed for shows and I toured the world.
“I prayed for guidance, I toured with Baba Shero (Macheso), the experience was a once in a lifetime one, and I am so much in awe of the wisdom I witnessed from Baba Shero.
“His humility, musicianship and artistry was a reminder of the grace one can carry themselves with in this industry.
“I am forever grateful for that experience, as well as the opportunity to connect with Zimbabweans across the globe,” she added.
Gemma ended last year successfully with the recording of her album, A Girl from Harare, which was performed live at the National Art Gallery of Zimbabwe.
She also starred in a European documentary with five other international artists sponsored by Yamaha.
