GENERATIONS has started writing out fired actors and actresses from its script with key characters, Dineo and Nicholas being the latest characters to be eliminated from the soapie. In Tuesday’s episode of the South African soapie, Akhona and Nicholas stole Zodwa’s baby and eloped to Botswana, marking an end to Nicholas’ role. Dineo on the other hand was kidnapped by Selo.

This comes after the South African soapies’ executive producer, Mfundi Vundla indicated that the fired 16 cast members would be written out of the script after they went on strike over a wage dispute.

As a result, Generations will be going off air from October 1 with its television time slot being replaced by SePedi drama Skeem Saam.
According to its producers, the soapie will return to the screens in December with new characters who will replace the axed cast. Characters that have suddenly disappeared from the picture are MJ (Anga Makubalo), Queen (Sophie Ndaba) and Khethiwe (Winnie Ntshaba) who were last seen a week ago.

Other characters who were fired include Sibusiso (Menzi Ngubane), Jason (Zolisa Xaluva), Senzo (Thami Mnqolo), Ruby (Slindile Nodangala), Noluntu (Zenande Mfenyana), Mawande (Nambitha Mpulwana) and Choppa (Mandla Gaduka). They are still appearing on the soap though.
Viewers are waiting to see how producers will work around the October 1 off air deadline, and who they will introduce as new characters in December.
