Gentleman’s bar opens in Gwanda

GWANDA businessman, Mandlenkosi Moyo, has scored a first in the mining town by opening a Gentlemen’s Bar called Club 626.

The bar, which opened its doors last Friday, caters for executives and other patrons who love to drink their wise waters away from the hassles and bustles of urban life.

The new drinking spot opened amid pomp and fanfare which spilled into midnight at an occasion graced by the town’s Mayor, Knowledge Ndlovu who cut the ribbon to officially open the state-of-the-art bar.

Moyo, who also runs another popular nightspot, Talk of Gwanda popularly known as Club Limelight and a gym, was upbeat about the opening of his new venture.

He said the bar, located on the outskirts of the Gwanda Central Business District overlooking the serene environment along the Bulawayo – Beitbridge Railway line, had come as a relief to working class men who crave a drink after a busy day in the office.

“When we opened Talk of Gwanda, we’d realised that there was a gap in the town’s entertainment industry. Top executives didn’t have a place where they could drink peacefully without mixing with everyone. A place where they could sit and discuss their business plans without interference, hence the opening of this joint,” Moyo said.

He said the club was ideally housed in the same building with their gym so that patrons visit the bar after their training sessions.

The bar also has showers for patrons to take a bath whenever they wish.

“Most of the bars were not considering people’s interests hence we opened this bar with men in mind.”

However, Moyo said the bar was not segregatory as both sexes were free to patronise it adding that plans were underway to make it a Gentlemen and Ladies’ bar.

Mayor Ndlovu praised Moyo for contributing to the development of the town’s entertainment industry.
