Renowned Bulawayo contemporary artist George Masarira is set to showcase an impressive collection of nine art pieces at the No Walls Between Us exhibition, hosted by Indibano Art Residency at the South Dallas Cultural Center in Dallas, Texas, USA.
Masarira is exhibiting alongside other artists from South Africa and Texas in a cross-cultural showcase that highlights international artistic collaboration. The exhibition, which opened on May 22, runs until June 27.
The Zimbabwean artist said the works on display were created during his residency in Dallas last year, where he spent eight weeks developing the collection.

“The work that I’m exhibiting at the No Walls Between Us exhibition is work that I’d done during the period of my residency when I was in Dallas last year. Most of the work is work that I produced during the 8-week period.
“Most of the artists that are exhibiting at the exhibition are people that were selected because of their residency status, with most of them coming from the Indibano Art Residency program,” said Masarira.
He said being part of an international platform is a major milestone in his artistic journey, adding that such opportunities are vital for exposure and growth.
“Being on a stage like this highlights the work that I have done. As artists, we always need international recognition and I feel very privileged to be one of the few Zimbabweans that Indibano has selected to exhibit their works at such a level. The mandate of Indibano is to create such opportunities and I’m glad that it continues to do so and provide international opportunities for local art talent,” he said.
Masarira is one of five Zimbabwean artists selected to feature at the exhibition, which continues to highlight the growing influence and recognition of young contemporary Zimbabwean artists on the global stage.
