Old Georgians . . . . . . . . . . . (6) 14OLD GEORGIANS came from behind to snatch a much-needed win over the hosts at Harare Sports Club yesterday.

The game was the pick of the first round of matches played after a two-month National Rugby League layoff. Everyone appeared out of the groove but match official Tinashe Kamwenje appeared the hardest hit with his questionable handling of the game. Stand-in Dragons coach Vakai Hove was shown a red card in the second half as tempers flared with both sides furious overt Kamwenje’s calls. The first half was a cagey affair with the Dragons only managing two penalties from Hilton Mudariki while Sportivo had a penalty from Teddy ‘‘Boxer’’ Hwata and a blistering try from pint-sized Stephen Hunduza.

Sportivo depended on spreading the game they were snuffed out of their game plan in the second half as the Dragons slowed down the match.

“The senior players like Jacque Leitao took charge of the team when the coach was sent off. Our discipline was not the best today and the referee tried to get a flowing game the best way he could. We are happy with the win,” said Hilton Mudariki who scored the winning try after Leitao tied the scores at 11-11.
