ZEBRA Revolution goalkeeper Gerald Sibanda is headed to Texas College after catching the eye during the Vision2Africa trials held in Zimbabwe and Zambia last year.

It marks a major milestone in his budding football career.

A former Zimbabwe Under-17 national team player, Sibanda couldn’t hide his excitement as he prepares to take his talent to the United States.

“I am over the moon, I would like to thank Vision2Africa for the chance, coach Mkhokheli Dube, everyone who supports and believes in me and, most of all, my parents,” said Sibanda.

“I started playing football at Flame Stars at junior level under Humphrey ‘Mzizi’ Maseva. Then I joined FMSA, Bosso90 and Zebra Revolution.

“I’m excited to take this next step in my career and make the most of this opportunity.”

Sibanda, who was once an intern with the Zimpapers Sports Hub, becomes the latest local talent to benefit from Vision2Africa’s growing footprint in Southern Africa.

He joins Tatenda Zowa and Gracious Mumpande at Texas College, further underscoring the organisation’s impact on young Zimbabwean footballers.

Vision2Africa is a mission driven platform committed to transforming lives through sport and education.

Its goal is to unearth hidden talent across Southern Africa and provide young players with life-changing opportunities, both on the pitch and in the classroom.

“We have no doubt Gerald will make Bulawayo and all of Zimbabwe proud. Your journey is just beginning, Gerald! Keep working, keep believing,” read a statement from Vision2Africa.

The organisation firmly believes that education is the key to unlocking potential and creating a future beyond sport. Its initiatives are designed to build holistic athletes, well rounded individuals prepared for both competition and life.

Last year, Zebra Revolution, founded by former Highlanders star Mkhokheli Dube, partnered with Vision2Africa to support youth empowerment through sport and academics.

Together with co-founders Nyasha Dube and Sali Mugala, the mission is clear: give young people the tools to chase their dreams and shape their own futures.

Sibanda’s story is more than just a scholarship success, it’s a symbol of what’s possible when talent, opportunity, and support collide.
